We set Primary school children in Kent a challenge: create a piece of art that highlights the importance of recycling in your local area.

Once the submissions were in and judged, the lucky winners had the opportunity to have their drawings displayed on the side of one of our vehicles as a mobile art gallery. We then sent the vehicle out to the schools with our Education Specialist, Jolene Simionato, to show the pupils their artwork and celebrate their win.

The vehicle will remain wrapped with the drawings for a year to celebrate the contribution of the children and also remain a mobile gallery to provoke thought and conversation around recycling with people of all ages.

Chief Executive, Martin Heathcote said: “As a farming family with years of experience in waste management, we know that it is important to teach children about where their food comes from, what happens to the waste we produce and what we can do to reuse and recycle more.

“The Living Land event was a fantastic opportunity to have that conversation which has led to us turning one of our trucks into a mobile art gallery and spreading the message about recycling across the communities we serve.”

The winning submissions came from pupils from Boughton Under Blean and Dunkirk School, near Canterbury; East Farleigh Primary, near Maidstone; Seabrook CoE Primary in Hythe; and Swingate Primary in Chatham.
