In March, we reported that our very own Head of Operations, Michael Davies and his team were cycling the New Forest (85 miles), Pilgrims 100 (100 mile), Mont Ventoux (150 miles), Ride London (100 mile) and South East Velo (100 miles) to raise money with his team for the Prevent Breast Cancer charity (PBC).
With just the ride to London to go, we are thrilled to report that he has just completed 2 climbs which total 53 miles at 10000 ft in 5hr 46 mins- Amazing!
Reporting after his cycle, Michael commented: “The first climb was the easiest out of the 2 from Malaucene to the top and we then descended into Bedoin to have lunch and then take on the iconic Tour de France. It was brutal and very hard and hot. We also stopped at the Tom Simpson memorial who died cycling up this mountain on the Tour de France stage.”
Prevent Breast Cancer is the only UK charity funding ground-breaking research solely aimed at preventing breast cancer, the most common cancer in the UK, for future generations. PBC are passionate about stopping the disease before it starts. It promotes healthier lifestyles and early diagnosis, collaborating with others to influence change in breast cancer services. Working closely with The Manchester Breast Centre, PBC collaborates with the best experts in the field and is based at the UK’s only breast cancer prevention centre, The Nightingale Centre, which is at the forefront of preventative research.
It’s a fantastic cause and we wish him the best of luck on the final leg of the whole team’s journey! If you would like to support them, see their story or donate, please go to the Just Giving page:
