Council Skip Permits

Placing a skip on your own driveway or private land doesn’t require a permit. You’ll only need one if the skip has to sit on a public road, pavement or grass verge.

We handle the full permit application on your behalf. When you book, select the road permit option and we’ll submit the request to Kent County Council Highways. The permit costs £100, covering a 2-week placement period. Please allow at least 5 working days before your planned delivery date – permit applications cannot be expedited.

Permit pricing is subject to change. Confirm the current rate at the time of booking.

Only if the skip is going on a public road or pavement. Skips placed on driveways or private land don't require a permit. For road placements, a skip permit is needed from Kent County Council Highways. The cost is £100 and covers a 2-week period. We manage the application for you - just select the permit option when booking and allow at least 5 working days before your delivery date.

Prices depend on skip size and your specific location. As a starting guide: a 4-yard skip from £190, 6-yard from £220, 8-yard from £250 and 12-yard from £355. All prices exclude VAT and are effective from January 2026. Prices may be higher depending on your area - get a quote to confirm your exact price.

An 8-yard builders skip is the most common choice for a full house clearance - it holds around 80 bin bags and suits the majority of homes. If you're only clearing one or two rooms, a 4-yard skip will usually do. For larger detached properties in areas like Kippington or Wildernesse, it's worth stepping up to a 12-yard to save the hassle of a second delivery.
