On Sunday 12th July at Three Hills Sports Park, Folkestone saw the Under 12 and Under 14 Kent District Finals. After winning their respective Semi-Finals both Canterbury and Sevenoaks made it to the U12 Finals With Ashford and Bromley progressing through to the U14 Finals.

The weather on Sunday didn’t dampen the spirits of any of the teams competing in what is to be last District Final before the Area Competition is launched next year.

The U12 Final saw Sevenoaks only able to muster 79 all out before their allotted 30 overs after some good bowling from Canterbury. With only 80 to win from 30 overs Canterbury had plenty of time to accumulate the runs needed and after the loss of 3 relatively early wickets, Canterbury were able to push on and reached the 80 required to win with an excess of 10 overs left to spare.

The U14 Final saw Ashford Bat first and with a similar story to the U12 could only reach 87 all out inside their allotted 35 overs. Playing on a large pitch boundaries were often hard to come by, however Ashford were looking at posting an even lower total, but thanks to some positive lower order hitting Ashford managed to reach 87 before the final wicket fell.

What then proved to almost be a competitive total, Ashford came out making it hard work for Bromley restricting and keeping the pressure on with some very tight bowling. However with plenty of wickets in hand and with the rain fast approaching Bromley were able to accelerate and after the loss of one Wicket Bromley managed to amass 88-1 from inside the 35 overs.

Congratulations must go to those from all teams for reaching the finals but especially the Winners Canterbury and Bromley.
