Our flagship facility at Ridham, Sittingbourne, Kent provides specialist waste recycling services for plasterboard, wood and organic waste, (producing sustainable peat free compost) and also manufactures refused derived fuel, together ensuring 100% diversion from landfill.

Countrystyle’s operating sites include Waste Transfer Stations at Strood and Folkestone in Kent, a paper, cardboard and plastics baling facility near Maidstone, Kent and operating centres at customer sites in Buckinghamshire and at New Spitalfields Market, Stratford, East London.

Our logistics capability is extensive with a fleet of over 150 vehicles ranging of Artics, RoRos, Dustcarts and Skip lorries.

Our History

  • 1996

    Countrystyle Composting Ltd was formed to develop recycling for commercial and domestic green waste and other organic waste streams

  • 2001

    Commencement of bulk waste collection services using RoRo containers

  • 2004

    Countrystyle Recycling Ltd was formed to acquire a freehold site at Ridham which was earmarked for the development of a Material Recycling Facility MRF

  • 2005-06

    The company acquires a Waste Transfer Station at Strood and associated trade waste/skip hire operations

  • 2008

    £6m investment by the Company to build Kent’s first fully licensed Animal By-Products Regulations approved in-vessel composting facility together with a 110,000 tpa MRF at Ridham

  • 2009

    Countrystyle Composting acquires an in-vessel composting facility at Parham, Suffolk and treatment contract with Suffolk County Council.

    Countrystyle Recycling acquires Folkestone Waste Transfer Station and associated skip hire business

  • 2010

    Following the acquisition of TJ Composting Ltd, an organics recycling business, Countrystyle acquired four open windrow composting facilities, expanding its composting operations to a more national basis

  • 2011

    Countrystyle acquired Halstead Renewable Power Project with full planning permission for the development of an Anaerobic Digestion plant in Essex. Countrystyle also acquired a further three in-vessel composting facilities from the businesses and assets of County Mulch Ltd

  • 2012

    Countrystyle acquires Any Waste Solutions Ltd, a waste collection and recycling business based in Kent. Countrystyle Group sells the management and development rights of four Anaerobic Digestion sites to Tamar Energy and the operation of six in-vessel and open windrow composting sites

  • 2013

    Expanded commercial waste operations, including introduction of dry mixed recyclables rounds and an additional wood recycling facility at Ridham Sea Terminals. Countrystyle invested in a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) process preparation line

  • 2014

    Countrystyle Recycling invested £1m in a recycling line at DS Smith’s recovered paper mill at Sittingbourne, Kent. Local Authority contract wins with West London Waste Authority, Bucks County Council, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and further investment in the wood processing line

  • 2015

    Countrystyle Recycling invested in new equipment and plant for the RDF processing line, and Paper Recycling operations, along with Hyundai plant for Ridham and extensive investment in the wood operations at Ridham. Countrystyle has also won a number of large contract with Commercial Services, Kent County Cricket Club, Smurfit Kappa and Westwood Cross Shopping centre. There has also been continued investment in our fleet of vehicles.
