Tenterden Skip Hire You Can Count On

Tenterden is a historic market town on the edge of the Kent Weald, and a lot of our work here is refurbishment-led. The weatherboarded cottages along the High Street, the Edwardian and Victorian homes around St Mildred’s, the newer estates off Appledore Road and Ashford Road, and the farms and conversions in the surrounding countryside – all generate a steady mix of renovation, garden and builders’ waste that needs clearing properly.

We cover the TN30 postcode, including TN30 6 and TN30 7, along with St Michael’s, High Halden, Woodchurch, Smallhythe, Rolvenden, Biddenden, Benenden, Appledore and Wittersham.

Council Skip Permits

If the skip is going on your driveway or any private land, no permit is required. You’ll only need a permit if it has to sit on a public road, pavement or grass verge.

We’ll sort the permit application out for you. Pick the road permit option when booking and we’ll submit the application to Kent County Council Highways on your behalf. The permit costs £100 for a 2-week period, and you’ll need to allow at least 5 working days before delivery – applications can’t be fast-tracked, so build that lead time into your project.

Permit pricing is subject to change. Confirm the current rate at the time of booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only if the skip has to go on a public road or pavement. On a driveway or anywhere on private land, no permit is needed. For a skip on the road, you'll need a skip permit from Kent County Council Highways. The fee is £100 and covers a 2-week period. We handle the application for you - select the road permit option when booking, and allow at least 5 working days before delivery.

Prices depend on your postcode and the size you go for. As a starting point: a 4-yard skip from £190, 6-yard from £220, 8-yard from £250 and 12-yard from £355. All prices exclude VAT and are effective from January 2026. Prices may be higher depending on your area - get a quote to confirm your exact figure.

For a full clearance, most Tenterden customers go for an 8-yard builders skip - it holds around 80 bin bags, which covers most properties. For a single room or two, a 4-yard skip is usually enough. If you're clearing a larger Wealden farmhouse or one of the period properties around the High Street, it's worth sizing up to a 12-yard to avoid a second delivery.
