Council Skip Permits

Placing your skip on a driveway or private property? No permit is required. A permit is only necessary when the skip needs to sit on a public road, pavement or verge.

We manage the entire permit process on your behalf. Choose the road permit option when placing your order and we’ll submit the application to Kent County Council Highways for you. The fee is £100 and covers a 2-week permit period. Please allow a minimum of 5 working days before your required delivery date – permit applications cannot be fast-tracked.

Permit pricing is subject to change. Confirm the current rate at the time of booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only if the skip is going on a public road or pavement. If it's sitting on your driveway or any other private land, no permit is needed. For road placements, you'll need a skip permit from Kent County Council Highways. The fee is £100 and covers a 2-week period. We handle the permit application for you - select the road permit option when booking and allow at least 5 working days before your delivery date.

Prices vary depending on skip size and your exact location. As a starting guide: a 4-yard skip from £190, 6-yard from £220, 8-yard from £250 and 12-yard from £355. All prices exclude VAT and are effective from January 2026. As Deal postcodes are not in our standard pricing zones, prices may be higher depending on your specific location - get a quote to confirm your exact price.

An 8-yard builder's skip is the most popular choice for a full house clearance - it holds around 80 bin bags, which covers most properties. If you're just clearing a room or two, a 4-yard skip should be enough. For larger period properties in Deal's conservation area or the Victorian terraces through the town centre, consider sizing up to a 12-yard to avoid needing a second delivery.
