Canterbury Skip Hire You Can Count On

Canterbury is a historic cathedral city with a constant stream of renovation and clearance work. Period properties in the city centre around St Dunstan’s and Northgate, terraced streets in Wincheap and Thanington, student lets near the University of Kent campus, newer housing in Hales Place and South Canterbury – skip hire is in demand year-round. Whether you’re stripping out a kitchen in a Georgian townhouse or clearing a garden in Sturry, we’ve got the right skip for the job.

We serve all Canterbury postcodes: CT1, CT2, CT3 and CT4. We also cover the surrounding areas, including Sturry, Harbledown, Blean, Bridge, Chartham, Littlebourne, Thanington, Bekesbourne and Petham.

Council Skip Permits

Placing a skip on your own driveway or private land requires no permit at all. A permit is only needed if the skip has to sit on a public road, pavement or highway verge.

We handle the entire permit process for you – just choose the road permit option when you book and we’ll submit the application to Kent County Council Highways on your behalf. The fee is £100 and covers a 2-week permit period. Make sure to allow at least 5 working days before your planned delivery date, as permit applications cannot be fast-tracked.

Permit pricing is subject to change. Confirm the current rate at the time of booking.

Prices vary depending on your exact location and the skip size you need. As a guide: a 4-yard skip starts from £190, 6-yard from £220, 8-yard from £250 and 12-yard from £355. All prices exclude VAT, are effective from January 2026, and may be higher depending on your specific location. Get a quote to confirm pricing for your postcode.

An 8-yard builders skip is the most popular choice for a full house clearance - it holds roughly 80 bin bags and handles most properties comfortably. If you're clearing just a room or two, a 4-yard skip is usually enough. For larger period properties in the city centre or a big clear-out from a student house share, it's worth stepping up to a 12-yard to avoid needing a second delivery.
