Fordwich Skip Hire You Can Count On

Fordwich is the smallest town in England by charter – a historic Cinque Port limb of Sandwich, sitting on the River Stour just a couple of miles northeast of Canterbury. It’s largely residential and sits within a conservation area, so most skip hire jobs here are period-property renovations, garden landscaping, roof work and occasional house clearances. Narrow lanes and tight driveways are common, which is why the smaller 4-yard and 6-yard skips are our most popular choice for Fordwich customers.

We cover the Fordwich postcode of CT2, along with the neighbouring villages of Sturry, Westbere, Stodmarsh, Wickhambreaux and Hersden.

Council Skip Permits

Planning to put the skip on a driveway or other private land? No permit is required. A permit only comes into play when the skip needs to sit on a public road, pavement or verge.

We’ll sort the permit for you. Choose the road permit option at booking and we’ll submit the application to Kent County Council Highways on your behalf. The £100 fee covers a 2-week placement. Applications can’t be fast-tracked, so please allow a minimum of 5 working days before your preferred delivery date.

Permit pricing is subject to change. Confirm the current rate at the time of booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only if the skip needs to go on a public road. On a driveway or any other private land, no permit is needed. For an on-road skip in Fordwich, a skip permit is issued by Kent County Council Highways. The fee is £100 and covers a 2-week period. We apply on your behalf when you select the permit option at booking - just allow at least 5 working days before delivery.

Prices depend on your exact location and the size of skip you need. As a starting guide: a 4-yard skip from £190, 6-yard from £220, 8-yard from £250 and 12-yard from £355. All prices exclude VAT and are effective from January 2026. Prices may be higher depending on your area - get a quote for the confirmed figure.

For a full house clearance, most customers opt for an 8-yard builders skip, which takes around 80 bin bags and handles most average properties. If you're only clearing one or two rooms, a 4-yard skip is usually enough. For a larger period cottage or character property in the Fordwich conservation area, sizing up to a 12-yard can save the hassle of a second load.
