Whitstable Skip Hire You Can Count On

Whitstable is a busy coastal town on the north Kent coast, and the skip hire demand here reflects its mix of heritage housing, holiday lets, newer estates and a working high street. We deliver to the weatherboarded cottages around the harbour, the larger family homes in Tankerton, the newer builds at Chestfield, and the pubs, restaurants and shops along the High Street and seafront – covering everything from kitchen refurbs and bathroom strips to full refits on second homes and holiday rentals.

We serve the Whitstable postcode of CT5, covering the town centre and the surrounding areas, including Tankerton, Seasalter, Swalecliffe, Chestfield, Yorkletts and South Street.

Council Skip Permits

A skip placed on a driveway or any private land doesn’t require a permit. You’ll only need one if the skip is going on a public highway, pavement or verge.

We’ll handle the permit application for you – just pick the road permit option when you book, and we’ll submit it to Kent County Council Highways on your behalf. The fee is £100 and covers a 2-week period. Please allow at least 5 working days before your planned delivery date, as permits can’t be fast-tracked.

Permit pricing is subject to change. Confirm the current rate at the time of booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on where the skip is going. On a driveway or any private land, no permit is needed. If it has to sit on a public road or pavement, you'll need a skip permit from Kent County Council Highways. The fee is £100 and covers a 2-week period. We apply for it on your behalf - just select the road permit option at booking and allow at least 5 working days before your delivery date.

Pricing starts at £190 for a 4-yard skip, £220 for a 6-yard, £250 for an 8-yard and £355 for a 12-yard. All prices exclude VAT and are effective from January 2026. Prices may be higher depending on your area, so get a quote to confirm your exact price.

For a full clearance, most Whitstable customers opt for an 8-yard builders skip, which holds around 80 bin bags and handles most properties comfortably. A 4-yard skip is usually enough for clearing just one or two rooms. If you're tackling a larger seafront property or a family home in Tankerton, it's often worth sizing up to a 12-yard skip to save the hassle of a second delivery.
