Countrystyle is now working with Land Securities’ Westwood Cross Shopping Centre in Broadstairs, Kent. A recently signed three year contract, to October 2018, will see Countrystyle providing total waste management services for the East Kent shopping centre.

Westwood Cross is proactive in recycling material produced by the 320,000 sq. ft. retail centre attracting circa 6.6 million annual visitors. Each store is allocated two Euro bins, one each for general waste and dry mixed recycling. Store bins are taken to the on-site waste compounds for compaction. Cardboard and polythene is baled on site and stored for collection. Countrystyle will be introducing food waste bins to the various restuarants on-site together with glass bins early in 2016. This will further increase the restaurants’ recycling figures and reduce the amount of material being collected in the general waste bins.

Occasionally stores at Westwood Cross undergo re-fits, Countrystyle will provide containers to transport the material to its operating sites to recycle the wood, plasterboard and other construction waste. The dry mixed recyclables are separated on-site by trained operatives and each material type (cardboard/paper & plastic) are baled separately and collected by Countrystyle’s fleet of curtain sided trailers for onward recycling.
