The Challenge
A 15-year relationship, tested and proven on a complex project
Kimberly-Clark is one of the world’s leading consumer goods manufacturers, with operations that demand exacting standards in waste management, compliance, and operational continuity. Countrystyle has been their trusted waste partner at the Northfleet site for over 15 years — delivering a bespoke, total waste management solution across multiple streams, including specialist services requiring weekend monitoring.
In 2021, Kimberly-Clark undertook a significant site restructure: the decommissioning of two paper production lines. The objective was to increase output capacity by around 20% and free space for future operations — a project that required a waste management partner already embedded in the site, with the relationships and knowledge to execute at pace.
That existing depth of partnership meant Countrystyle was uniquely placed to take on the project without a ramp-up period. Work was delivered across two phases — April and September 2021 — with full waste segregation and rebate maximisation managed throughout.
"Thanks to our long-standing relationship and ongoing presence on site, Countrystyle was ideally placed to manage waste segregation and maximise rebate opportunities throughout the project."

The Approach
Total waste management for a complex industrial project, with one partner from day one.
As part of Kimberly-Clark’s Major Projects Strategy, Countrystyle provided Total Project Waste Management across both phases of the paper line decommissioning. Across 16 waste streams and a 601-container mobilisation, every element of the operation was coordinated through Countrystyle’s dedicated Key Accounts Team.
Multi-stream segregation
Countrystyle supplied and managed multiple container types across the site, ensuring accurate material segregation across all 16 waste streams — maximising rebate value and diverting material from landfill at every stage of the decommission.
24/7 contractor coordination
Working closely with Kimberly-Clark’s appointed contractors, Countrystyle’s team was available around the clock to align collections with the live decommissioning schedule — keeping the project on track and meeting phase deadlines without disrupting wider site operations
Dedicated Key Accounts oversight
A dedicated Key Accounts Team maintained consistent communication throughout both phases, providing a single point of contact for reporting, scheduling, and issue resolution — removing complexity from Kimberly-Clark’s project management team.
Accurate reporting across all streams
Detailed reporting on all materials collected and disposed of was maintained across both project phases, giving Kimberly-Clark full visibility of waste volumes, stream performance, and rebate returns throughout.
Against a total project cost of £138k, Countrystyle generated £677k in rebate. A return that reflects not just logistical capability, but the value of 15 years of embedded site knowledge and material expertise
Results in Detail
Measurable returns across a two-phase industrial decommission
Across both phases of the Northfleet paper line project, Countrystyle delivered a fully managed, commercially optimised waste operation — returning significant value to Kimberly-Clark while keeping a complex decommissioning programme on schedule.
£677k total rebate returned
Material value recovered and returned to Kimberly-Clark across both project phases through precise waste stream segregation and optimised routing.
601 containers mobilised on site
A significant container deployment managed without disruption to live site operations or the wider decommissioning programme.
2,914 tonnes of total waste
Full project waste volume handled across all 16 streams, from bulk metal removal through to general and specialist waste disposal.
16 waste streams coordinated
Full spectrum waste management across a complex mix of industrial material types, each routed to the most appropriate and commercially advantageous destination.
1,901 tonnes of metal removed
The single largest material stream recovered, reflecting the scale of equipment and infrastructure removed during the decommissioning.
£138k total project cost
A tightly managed overall cost that, set against the £677k rebate generated, reflects the commercial case for engaging a trusted, specialist partner.
