The work we do within our local community is incredibly important to us at Countrystyle. Whether it’s our collaborations with schools, attending events to educate and inspire, or our day-to-day interactions with residents and customers, we strive to always be at our best.

Recently, three members of our Bexley team exemplified this commitment. Waste operatives Tom, Darren, and Daniel were on their usual round in Bexley when they found 75-year-old Angela semi-conscious outside her home. They immediately took action, calling an ambulance, contacting a neighbour, and ensuring Angela was awake and safe.

Christine, Angela’s neighbour who was called out to help, said: “Daniel was brilliant. He told me what to do to help, made sure we didn’t move her, and kept her conscious. Another team member called an ambulance and was very helpful to the paramedics, answering all their questions.”

“Angela lives alone and has rheumatoid arthritis, so I contacted her family. Without the team from Countrystyle, I could not have managed as I’m elderly myself. They are all heroes in my book, and if I win the lottery, they’re on my list! Countrystyle is lucky to have them.”

All three employees have been presented with letters of commendation and vouchers from the business in thanks for their incredible kindness and quick thinking. They have also received personal letters from Cllr Baroness O’Neil, Leader of the London Borough of Bexley.

Cllr Baroness O’Neil said: “I’d like to commend our waste operatives who recently came to the aid of a resident who had fallen. Their quick thinking and compassion embody the values we hold dear in Bexley. Keeping our borough safe remains a top priority.”

During our time working with Bexley council, our commitment to the residents and customers has been one of our top priorities. It is clear that Tom, Darren, and Daniel share this commitment too.

Contract Manager Jason Jones added: “We are extremely proud of our employees who took time out of their days to care for Angela. We’re so pleased to hear she’s now recovering at home, but it could have been a very different story if they hadn’t stopped. We are a family business, and this act of kindness is a great example of what we’re all about.”
