Below we have some example case studies working with Kent Schools & Universities

CANTERBURY CHRIST CHURCH UNIVERSITY

Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) recognises its significant role in protecting and enhancing the wider environment. To date, the University has developed a dedicated framework for sustainability, achieving and maintaining an ISO14001 accreditation for its Environmental Management System through the EcoCampus programme.

Since 2013, the University upholds a zero waste to landfill ethos, making great strides in reducing its carbon footprint, investing in sustainable materials and buildings and making sustainability a central concept in its plans for the future development of the estate.

CCCU and Countrystyle have worked together on initiatives to create a coherent, co-branded campaign designed to increase onsite segregation and reduce mixed recyclables contamination for students and staff. Over CCCU’s multiple campuses, the message is consistent and communicated clearly for both UK and international students to help meet the university’s green targets.

Working closely with CCCU, Countrystyle has created designs which are co-branded and deliver a clear, youthful message that appeals to all students. Colour co-ordination and iconography were included in the design to ensure the message was clear and coherent for all students. Cross marketing communications are used alongside recycling bins to create a consistent message. Together this has significantly increased segregation, reduced contamination and increased rebate opportunities.

MCG EDUCATION

MCG Education offers a one stop shop for a host of services for the Education Sector by managing accounts, continuously monitoring service quality & prices and recommending suppliers offering the best value for money.

MCG Education identified Countrystyle as the waste management company that could offer a total waste management solution for over 86 Schools in the Medway Council unitary area. Key drivers of the contract were to significantly increase landfill diversion rates and reduce general waste bin weights. Meeting concerns of its customers, MCG Education also wanted to encourage recycling within the schools through friendly and engaging methods. Countrystyle has rolled out its School Initiative sessions to Medway schools, enabling pupils to be directly involved with the recycling process and encourage greener practises within the classrooms.

Countrystyle delivered its popular, iconic hexagonal bins and educational literature to encourage students (and teachers!) to segregate effectively and drive recycling further. Alongside the Schools Initiative sessions, schools have seen a reduction in the cost of their general waste and a strong increase in their landfill avoidance statistics. Medway schools have also signed additional ad-hoc services, including food collections to avoid contamination in recycling and confidential waste collections to adhere to GDPR.
